I saw on Queen Latifa a story of a girl who at age 14 decided to get donations for teens in foster care to have clothes. Wow! What a great idea!!!! I was a foster parent, I know many people think foster parents make lots of money having foster kids, not true! First of all, a foster parent does not even begin to get any money for the first month they have a child. The children come with literally what they have on! They have nothing to call their own! I was lucky with my first foster son for I had all my son's clothes to use. But when I got a foster daughter I had to go out and buy her clothes, underwear and school supplies.
Honestly, it is not the rich and famous going into foster care. Many foster parents are single, or just making it but want to give a child in need a home. After watching this show I decided I could put my Avon to good use and have started a fundraiser to buy clothes for foster kids. Then again watching a show on a woman who started a blog and from that blog now helps feed many families at Thanksgiving, I thought....ummm....I will also start a blog and try to find even more people like me hoping to help kids in foster care and support foster parents. So here I am....one child at a time, one parent at a time, one family at a time. Inch by inch, lets make a change!!
